THE ORIGIN OF BYCAF
Launched in 2024 by the Belmopan City Council with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Youth Climate Action Fund, BYCAF removes the barriers young people face when turning climate ideas into action. In its first year the program opened a city-wide call, reviewed dozens of proposals, and awarded eight grants of up to B $10,000 each. Today it continues to mentor student teams and showcase their impact across Belmopan.

April 2024 launch attracted 50 + student teams proposing city-wide climate solutions.
Grants Awarded
Selection committee funded 8 projects, each receiving mentorship and up to B $10 000.
Impact Today
Edible gardens, recycling frames, and clean-ups now engage 60 + youth across Belmopan.
The Belmopan Youth Climate Action Fund supports youth-led climate solutions through funding, mentorship, and community-driven action. Our mission is to empower the next generation of environmental leaders.
